Alta Pusteria/Hochpustertal, a cross-country skiing and tobogganing paradise
Over toboggan runs and cross-country skiing trails
Cross-country skiing has experienced a real boom. This gentle Nordic sport can be learnt quickly by anyone, it is healthy and at the same time cheaper than skiing for example. Not to mention the landscape: when skiing you don't really have the time to get a closer look at the landscape, with cross-country skiing in the Alta Pusteria/Hochpustertal this is clearly the focus.
There are several rewarding cross-country skiing trails around San Candido/Innichen, in fact 200 km in total. They are part of the Dolomiti NordicSki network. A cross-country skiing trail toll is charged. Read more about cross-country skiing in Alta Pusteria/Hochpustertal in this pamphlet.
By contrast, the toboggan runs at Rocca dei Baranci/Haunold and on the Croda Rossa di Sesto/Rotwand invite you to whizz down to the valley. The toboggan run at Rocca dei Baranci/Haunold promises family fun over 3 km, the run on the Croda Rossa di Sesto/Rotwand is 5 km long and leads to Sesto/Sexten, where you can also enjoy night tobogganing every Thursday.
