1 NEW: Night-time ski race at Rondoi-Baranci

During the new ski season of 2011/2012, a special experience awaits night owls at the ski region of Rondoi-Baranci near San Candido. First you'll go up to 1,500 meters with the 4-seat-skilift and then down over the well-lighted slope toward the valley. On your way, you will enjoy a wonderful view of San Candido by night.

Il Plan de Corones, l'area sciistica più moderna dell'Alto Adige, è adesso raggiungibile in modo più semplice da San Candido. La nuova cabinovia „Ried“, inaugurata proprio per la stagione invernale 2011/2012, è collegata direttamente con la linea ferroviaria della Val Pusteria.
Vi basta salire in treno a San Candido e scendere a Percha mezz'ora dopo, dove vi aspetta la stazione a valle della nuovissima cabinovia a 10 posti che vi condurrà al Plan de Corones in pochi minuti.

4 FIS Ski-cross World cup in December 2011

On the 17th and 18th of December the international World Cup ski elite will meet in San Candido in the Alta Val Pusteria Valley. Ski cross is on the program. The small, but elegant ski area of Rondoi-Baranci in the ski region of the Dolomiti di Sesto will be the showcase of this adrenaline-loaded sporting event. A 1 km long ski-run will be built complete with ramps, steep curves, waves and other obstacles.

The races are free for all spectators and the World Cup party complete with DJ and live music will be celebrated at the “Pflegeplatz” in San Candido starting at 17:00.

5 Guided snow shoe hiking tours

Conquer the winter landscape around San Candido accompanied by an experienced mountain guide! From the 6th of December 2011 until the 29th of March 2012 our guests may participate in complementary guided snow shoe hikes and complementary guided full moon hikes.
The professional guides of the Alpine School Val Pusteria will teach you the techniques of snow shoe hiking and take you safely through the snowy forests to beautiful vistas. If you don't own a pair of snowshoes, you can rent them from us for only 4.00 Euros per person.

6 First Dolomite Christmas in San Candido

From the 3rd of December 2011 until the 8th of January 2012 on the weekends you can experience the magic of Christmas in the heart of San Candido. The streets and squares are filled with Christmas carols and the smell of sweet delicacies.
At the Angels post office you can send your Christmas letters, and on the 8th of December St. Nicholas will walk through the streets with his traditional “Krampusse” (traditional demon-like creatures who punish the bad children), choirs will sing vibrant Christmas carols, and a live nativity scene will travel around the village.

7 Monte Elmo

The Monte Elmo ski circuit can be reached from Post Alpina Dolce Vita Family Chalet directly on foot or on skis. There are 9 ski-lifts at your disposal for a perfect day on skis! The Monte Elmo ski circuit is also part of The Alta Pusteria Ski Central with its 7 different ski areas.

8 Monte Baranci

The small but enchanting Monte Baranciski circuit is located approx. 4 km from Versciaco above the town of San Candido in South Tyrol. The Monte Baranci ski circuit is a part of the The Alta Pusteria Ski Central with seven different ski areas that is a part of the Dolomiti Superski, the largest ski carousel in the world.

10 Snowfall

Snowfall in Alta Pusteria ranks among the most abundant of all South Tyrol. Ideal weather conditions and temperatures help maintain a constantly pleasant temperature all winter long. Just to make absolutely sure you'll find snow, 45-55 kilometers of run are maintained with artificial snowmaking machinery to make Alta Pusteria the ideal choice for your winter journey!

11 Skibus

A free skibus makes the rounds between San Candido, Dobbiaco, Villabassa, Sesto, and Braies, the downhill and cross-country ski circuits, and all the other winter excursion points and the Alta Pusteria villages every half hour.

12 Sled Run

The 3-km long Monte Baranci sled run is also perfect for families and beginners. A chairlift from San Candido carries you up to the starting gate in just 10 minutes. Sledding fans can also hike their way to the top in a around an hour. The trip downhill is fast indeed, and features a 350m drop in altitude.

13 Family

A winter vacation in Alta Pusteria is guaranteed to satisfy every family. The ski circuits are many, varied, and clearly marked. Special attractions, like the reindeer that can be seen on Croda Rossa ski circuit, offer an extra thrill especially to our younger visitors.

15 torch-lit ski processions

The San Candido Baranci Ski and Snowboard School stages torch-lit ski processions every Wednesday at 18.00 for a uniquely suggestive descent.

16 Night-time sledding

The Croda Rossa sled run is open for Night-time sledding and the lift system runs from 20.30 until 22.00 every Thursday from Christmas on, another event that makes your A winter journey in South Tyrol – Highlights for your winter vacation truly special!
